First real trade
Stage 03 · 7 readsOnce real money is involved the question changes from "how do I do this" to "can this money survive my learning". This stage covers sizing, cost arithmetic, error messages, and the five things to check before you press confirm. Crypto assets are volatile and you can lose your entire stake — every read here assumes that.
"Only risk what you can afford to lose" is true and unusable
Too small and fees look absurd and nothing feels real; too large and you behave in ways you never did on play money.
Order rejected? Check minimum notional and step size first
"Invalid quantity" and "order value too small" are parameter problems, not account problems.
Buy, sell, withdraw: only one of the three cares how small you are
Buy, sell and withdrawal added up, with the formulas written out so you can redo the arithmetic.
How Binance fees stack, and where the referral rebate sits
Maker/taker, tier, token discount and referral are four separate layers applied in order.
Switching day: the checklist before you press confirm
Account, size, pair, order type and record keeping — plus what to do in the first hour afterwards.
Lost money on your first real Binance trade? Stop, size down or go back to demo
Over the limit: pause and drill on demo. Inside it but no cause: trade smaller. Both clear: same size. Export the trades first.
Reviewing your first live Binance week against your demo log
Entry drift, fee share, exit type, plan-following: one gap per column. Write the widest as one line at the top of next week's log.
